Well much research has been done here trying to find the "best" solution for the KLE pegs. Anyone with some cash and access to google could come up with 'Pivot Pegs' or 'Fastways' etc. However this solution needs to be fairly generic as the bike is a trainer. Using either of those solutions, great as they are, would give a student a bit of a false expectation and even more importantly a bit of a learning curve as those pegs are a bit 'different' even for an experienced rider. The Pivots' for obvious reasons but he Fastways are just plane huge!! It tales some getting used to before brake and gear selection can be made subconscious again. No the solution here needed to be effective IE gripy and stable but also fairly 'ordinary' or similar to what students would experience on factory bikes like KLRs and DRs etc.
Well after many hours trawling internet forums, picking brains, visits to wreckers and some suspicious behaviour around bikes discovered in car parks, I finally came up with this info:
- KLE peg brackets will take pegs that also fit KLRs (no surprise there), DRs and DLs.
- KLE peg brackets are crap and only mount to the frame with one bolt and some weird sleeve arrangement that fits inside the frame hole/loop for the swing arm bearing. The bracket bends very easily on a lowside and is very troublesome to refit when straightened. This needs further modification.
- Only the DR comes with serrated 'off-roadable' pegs factory and therefore are cheap.
- eBay has many offerings ranging from AU$50 to $90.
