Advenced Dual Sport Riding Techniques and Trip Planning
Our Adventure Riding Extensions is a 2 day course designed for the dual sport rider who is comfortable 'riding' off road and wants to round out their skills and tackle some serious routes and terrain. Sometimes there is no alternative but to launch off banks, pop the front wheel over logs and let things get way out of shape. You need to develop the skills that allow you to do these things and still be in control. Trying to develop them on your own can be a bit daunting and without the right input it can be painful and/or expensive too. Advanced bike control is best learned in a controlled environment with a helping hand to guide you in the right direction from the 'get go'. Our Extensions course breaks each technique down into its components, enabling you to extend your skills quickly and safely.
Having the bike control skills is important but there's more to Adventure Riding than that. If you want to cross a state without seeing the bitumen or explore the 'corner country', you have to plan. Plan your route, your supplies, spares and plan to get lost. Even then, no matter how well you plan, life has a way of throwing a spanner in, just to keep you on your toes. It is an adventure after all. Once you've done your planning, you need to setup your bike and be familiar with it's weaknesses and those things on it that can 'go wrong'. Extensions will help you identify and learn to solve those problems. Staying on plan is an objective and rarely turns out to be a reality. Plans change, making your navigation skills as important as your riding skills and therefore, so are the tools you use to do it. You should invest in some good gear and learn to use it. Take some time and get yourself lost (a little lost) and find your way back. It's a valuable exercise and it pays to be able to keep a cool head in times where 'its all going pear shaped'. Extensions will bring all this together so you are aware of what you need to know and have the 'tools' to get it right even if it goes a little wrong first
