What some of our students had to say about the courses:

I made the decision to book into the Adventure Rider Foundation course with Todd and had the best two days on my bike to date!. The techniques he taught on the tar on day 1 gave me a real confidence boost. Day 2 was spent all off road. After heavy overnight rain we hit some of Todd's local tracks which turned out to be the perfect testing ground. The tracks were covered in wash outs, deep ruts, wet rock ledges, clay and sand. All of the techniques I was shown fell into place for me. If prior to this course I had been shown some of the tracks we rode on Sunday, in the condition they were in , I would not have attempted it however the confidence I gained from the weekend put me in a completely different mindset thanks to Todd. It also gave me a whole new appreciation of my DR650. Bottom line is-after 2 days training I finished the course a way more confident and capable rider. I wholeheartedly recommend this course to anyone keen to get off the beaten track!

After receiving and reading the outline to the Foundations Course I was a bit skeptical that this wouldn't offer me much more than I already knew considering my experience on most types of motorcycles.

Day one morning, skills assessment in carpark was enlightening and I realised that I need to practice these skills a lot more. After lunch when we hit the dirt/sand to start with was a bit of a worry, however, from taking in your guidance and demonstrations and by the time we completed the sand section and other dirt riding I left the day feeling a lot more confident in my off road riding abilities and satisfied I had chosen the right course.

Day two, I was looking forward to this as I knew we would be off road most of the day and would be practising skills learnt yesterday. I'd like to think I try most things on a motorcycle but have to admit that I was a bit intimidated by one or two of the tasks you had set for me. After your demonstrations, explanations,  your level of confidence in delivering both of these and after completing these exercises my level of confidence and enjoyment of riding a large motorcycle off road grew immensely.

On summing up, I feel that I achieved way more than I expected to do prior to commencing this course and would recommend your Foundations Course to all who are thinking about adventure type riding. Feel free to refer any skeptics to me if you're comfortable with this.

After 35 years of riding road bikes I made the transition to the larger ADVENTURE BMW, I found that although an experienced rider I lacked the “knowledge & skills” to truly enjoy this great machine. I had managed to ride out to Birdsville etc but found wanting and intimidated by the “sand” and “ loose” surfaces.

After damaging myself and the bike I decided on this course and with the “one on one” tuition over 2 days.

I feel embarrassed that I hadn’t had the insight to complete this course prior to destroying my bike and nearly myself.

Although many of the techniques taught are relatively simple they are essential for the larger ADVENTURE style of motorbike.

The instruction style was relaxed and I felt that Todd managed to resync my expectations to my new skills and methods.

If anyone would like to contact me to discuss my experience with this course they are more than welcome my mobile 0404 <contact us> for the rest of  Scott's details>.

I was in the market for a dual sport bike because I had decided that my years of sticking to the bitumen were past. I have been riding for more than 10 years and had wondered too many time what lay down those little country roads. I attempted to take my FJ 1100 down some interesting B and C roads that turned to dirt and was dissapointed that I quite often had to turn back. Having had my fair share of incidents over the years I was paranoid of riding on dirt, particularly with the wrong bike.

I contacted Todd for some info over the phone about what to ride and where and he soon had me on the right track. I attended his school for some one on one tuition on one of his bikes just to get the feel of what we had talked about. I was impressed with how understandable he made the skills needed to ride a larger bike off road with confidence and after doing his Foundations course have now bought my DL 650 and am having more fun than ever. I would not hesitate recommending the course with him if you are considering adventure riding or even if you have already started. The course is packed with great tips and trick that I am sure any rider would get value from. Best of all I now go looking for challenges not ways of avoiding them

Hi Todd
Had a blast on Saturday, made the ride on Sunday with the xxxxxxx pretty ordinary, I feel so much more confident on the bike now, I really didn’t think I would be riding in that manner when I brought it.
The confidence that I felt you had in me, gave me the confidence to go beyond what I thought I was capable of, I think it was the best thing that I could of done, my only regret is that I should of brought a rougher bike first  time out and maybe practice more over a 2 week gap as it seemed to take longer to get  back into the groove.

Thanks again for providing such a service

Keep it up
Regards
Keith Smith
