ART Expedition 2012

Preliminary planning is under way for the 2012 expedition. The 2010 Birdsville and three corners run met with a one in 100 year rain event and was limited to Cameron Corner, limping into Birdsville, The Dig Tree and limping home with the tail between the legs. Ride Report here. This page will be updated with more details as the plan progresses but we are looking at April/May 2012, leaving ART home base on the Sunshine Coast hinterland, heading straight out through St George, Thargomindah, Innamincka  and Birdsville via Walkers Crossing for regroup and supply. We will have 2 4WD's on hand and will be carrying minimal gear on the bikes, Comms, First Aid, Water and Camping gear for a night without the vehicles if needed. We will have a good supply of parts and consumables along with a supply of tools etc.

From Birdsville we will go via the French Line, Rig Rd to Dalhousie, then on up through Finke and Kulgera. A short blast up the tarmac to Alice for a couple of days R&R. Then over The Plenty to Boulia, maybe visit the Stockman's Hall of Fame/QUANTAS museums for a bit and then home maybe via Carnarvon Gorge, just so we can tick those boxes from the Birdsville trip that we missed.Cry

If you would be interested in the trip, slip over here and drop us a message. We have not estimated costs yet but would expect the supported sections (Thargomindah to Kulgera and Alice to Boulia, about six days in all) will set you back about $900.00 That's water, fuel, food, (Three meals a day), afternoon beverages, cargo space, tools and support therein. The transport sections from Home base to Innamincka AND Boulia to Home will be as a group (assuming you want to tag along) but we will not be providing support (other than the moral variety). You will have to carry all your gear on both transport sections which will help keep the vehicle costs down AND make sure that you only bring what you can carry on your bike.

Watch This Space.
